Family Vacation…
Last summer was fun, I went to Vegas. Vegas was where, I guess, I really began to head in the direction of coming out; so It will always be a place I’ll remember, also it’s VEGAS how could I forget that place! I spent a week in Vegas, which I recommend everyone do.
I knew about the beginning of that year I was going to Vegas for a family vacation, since I had turned 21 they decided that would be a good time to go. It was me, my parents, and my 2 sisters crammed into a car for about 19 hours; I would of rode a plane, but they wouldn’t let me arrive before them, and my mom won’t fly.
So for a couple months before we all piled into the car, I had a lot of time to think of what I wanted to do in Vegas. I decided a gay bar would be cool, a couple weeks before we left I googled for gay bars in Vegas. I didn’t want to write any of them down, thinking that I might leave the paper lying around and they finding it and going to the address; so I took my laptop with me (also I was going to be using there broadband while I was there too).
After a day and half of driving we arrived in Vegas, we went to our hotel room, and sadly no broadband, but I used there phone to connect; and looked up the same bars I did at home. Then I left… to the casino, I though to myself that I had plenty of time to go to a bar. After 2 days of playing games and walking around I decided I should go, but I needed to use our car. My parents had a sick up their ass about the car, because it was new, and Vegas had crowed streets (nothing like any thing in Tulsa). So I went back up to the room, going to get the keys, but they were gone. So I sat around, and some how I changed my mind about going to a bar. It was because I wasn’t out to anyone, online or offline, and never talked to a gay person in my life; and sticking me in a bar full of gay guys might put me in a coma.
Deciding not to go to a bar, I knew that I had to do something the involved something gay; I was in Vegas after all, the biggest city I’ve even been in, plus what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. So I got my laptop back online looking for a gay shop or something, and found ‘get booked’, a shop that sold gay pride and other things (porn). So I decided to take the money I had saved up, by not playing too many games, and buying something. I finally seen my parents the next day, and they were going to walk down Fremont Street, so I asked them for the keys to the car, telling a horrible lie.
I told them, and I cannot believe they fell for it, I was going to a shop that sells Magic the Gathering Cards (still amazes me that they believed that, I’m in Vegas the last place I want to go is a card shop); when In fact I was going to ‘get booked’. Somehow they fell for it, and gave me the keys. And off I went. After getting turned around, and missing the shop first time I went by, I found it. And I parked right in the middle of the store, which surprised me, I would think that I would try to hide for some reason. But I sat in the car for a couple minutes, I was very nervous; finally I went in, looked around and bought two DVDs (yep porn). When to check out, and this is what really amazed me, I was talking to the storeowner. I asked him about getting stuff delivered to Oklahoma, since I didn’t know if that would violate any Oklahoma’s laws. He told me… well never mind what he told me, it might get him in trouble. So I left, and went straight back to the hotel room, and hid and locked the DVDs in my laptop case. I remember that when I came out to my sisters, and when one asked me if I was sure that I was gay, I was tempted to tell her I have more gay porn then any straight man should.
Also in Vegas I had my first alcoholic beverage, and so (I though, but they were already alcoholics) did my younger sisters. I brought my Smirnoff into the hotel room, and they ended up asking to smell it, and being as naive as I am I trusted them. When I handed to one, she acted like she was going to smell it, and then took off to the bathroom with my other sister and they drank some of it (they might next time want to lock the door, I was able to get in before they finished it).
But Vegas was all good memories, even when going home; there was a white cargo van parked sideways on the Hoover dam with people in turbans walking around it when we were driving home (which looked like it was straight out of a movie, and I might have it on tape, I’ll have to see if my sister still has it.).
Aggg... my motherboard is telling me that the processor is getting hot, i need to increase the max temp it will allow so it will stop all this damn beeping.
