The Other Side Of Me

This Blog is a documentation, a day-to-day account of my coming out process. This is here so people can read, and see where i've made mistakes and where i've made progress, so that during their coming out they can attempt to avoid or emulate those things. It is also here, to show the struggle me and many others have faced, when coming to terms with our sexuality.

I even learned new words watching this movie!

I found the theater, and got to watch a dirty shame. I was going to leave so I could make the 5:00 showing, but I got held up, and had to wait for the 7:30 showing. So having 2 and a half hours to wait, I decided to go to the book store. What is funny is the theater is right behind the bookstore I was at last week. So I went into Barnes and Noble, and looked around the gay and lesbian section again, and they had new books. So I found one I was looking at on the internet and bought it: Outing Yourself: How to Come Out as Lesbian or Gay to Your Family, Friends, and Coworkers (ISBN:0-684-82617-8). Still having plenty of time on my hands, I decided to go to the street that had the 2 gay bars, but I didn’t find that street: yea I found the two gay bars, but what I didn’t notice was instead of 2 gay bars there were 3 of them on that street. There was a gay bar behind a gay bar, lol.

They didn’t look busy, but it was only 5 something. So I decided to drive around Tulsa. I ended up at a alcoholic recovery center, don’t ask me how, I was just driving around and BAM! There it was. It looked sad, if I had a drinking problem, just looking at that place would make me want to drink. So I headed back to the theater, it was now 6 something, and I decided I would just sit and read a little out of my new book.

Around 6:50 I decided to go and buy my ticket. After buying my ticket, I sat near the door to the entrance to the show I was going to be watching. While sitting their I seen what appeared to be a heard of homosexuals. Soon I was seeing homos everywhere, I don’t know if it was just me or what, but I only seen one guy bring a girl to the movies; and all the guys, except that one, had brought another guy, and they walked a little “too close”. It’s probably me, but we were only a couple blocks away from gay bars though…

Getting close to 7:15 they decided we can go take our seats, and what was funny is that she IDed me. Yep, she was a little “bouncer”, she wasn’t letting no one in unless they showed her their ID. After proving we could watch an NC-17 movie, she me and the rest in.

After 15 mins we got a treat, or as they called it “the Pre-show Entertainment”; which is a better term then I would of used, “The Slow Draining of My Soul”. But I saw some interesting previews, now I’m going to have to watch Ghost In the Shell 2 (I also need to watch Ghost in the Shell 1). But after the seamlessly endless self-promotion, the movie started.

It was a very enjoyable experience; I loved every minute of it. The whole theater erupted in laughter during the hokey-pokey, and other scenes of the movie. I’m going to have to buy this when It comes out on DVD. I’m glad that I chose to go to A Dirty Shame instead of Shaun of the Dead. Plus it had gay guys and gals in it, what’s not to like?

I recommend everyone watch this movie, it had a good message, to accept differences; even if they are sexual in nature.

[I might have to watch this movie again, sometime soon]

P.S.
Thanks Jesse Ventura:
According to MSN- Jesse Ventura will not vote for Kerry because of he doesn’t want his taxes increased, but what impressed me is this:
From MSN-
“Bush won't get his vote because of the president's positions on social issues, including his opposition to gay marriage and stem cell research, Ventura said.”
