"Dat tis Bullshit!"
Monday in my Ethics in Computer Science class, we discussed the psychological effects computers have had and are still having today. I’m glad that we had a substitute teacher (more on him later) because I don’t think our regular teacher would have been as informative or interesting on this subject.
But what stood out is when we discussed, ‘if a person spent half his life on the Internet and the other half in the real world, and had two different personalities which one is the real him?’ One of the guys I carpool with stated that the online person would be real. This resulted in the sub pointing and saying, “That is bullshit!” He explained that no matter where you are online or offline you’re always trying to impress someone. Which got me to thinking, which is more real my online or offline self. Sad to say, it’s my online self. I’m trying to integrate the two, but fears I have in the ‘real’ world are not allowing me too. I can say or do what ever I want online, stuff I’d never do offline, and there really isn’t any negative reaction I can’t handle. Offline there is always a possibility that I could be harmed for what I say or do, which makes bitching at people a little more dangerous.
Our sub, I’m guessing, was telling us no matter where we are, the only time we can be our true selves is when we are alone; and I have to agree, because half the crap that runs through my head I’d never tell a soul.
Ok, now my sub… polish, Bald, and a little cute ---old but cute---. What is it and guys with accents? Every time I think a guy is cute at school, ACCENT! It’s weird. He also was really cool, he liked the word ‘bullshit’ and I loved when he said, “the best version of star wars was spaceballs.” Eh, I’m a freak.

Well he was talking about a fictional kid that went to school and socialized; when he came home, he spent his time in chat room, instant messaging and web groups (he even mentioned blogs at the end). He also told us that he knew a woman that was addicted to chat rooms, to the point that she had to remove her PC from her house; and now her daughter is starting to get to that age where she needs a computer for school. What did he say… it was something like, “It’s like an alcoholic having a bottle of whisky on the desk, every day.”
They said that our sub that day is tough in his classes; they said it's a lot of writing and then more writing.
